Safety Tips for Bounce House Fun

Safety is paramount when it comes to bounce house fun at your event.  Here are some essential safety tips to ensure a secure and enjoyable experience for everyone.

  • Proper Setup: The professionals setting up the bounce house will ensure the bounce house is set up on a flat, level surface, free from sharp objects or debris. They will also follow the manufacturer's guidelines for inflation and anchoring to prevent tipping or collapsing.
  • Secure Anchoring: The bounce house needs to be anchored securely using stakes or sandbags to prevent it from being lifted by wind or sudden movements.

  • Age and Size Guidelines: Adhere to the recommended age and size guidelines provided by the bounce house installer and the manufacturer of the inflatable unit. Older children and teenagers should not play in the same bounce house as younger kids.  Make sure that the participants put into groups by age and size for bounce house fun and safety.
  • Supervision: Always have adult supervision during bounce house activities. Ensure that a responsible adult is monitoring the bounce house at all times to prevent rough play and enforce rules.
  • No Shoes or Sharp Objects: Make sure to remove shoes and any sharp objects before entering the bounce house to prevent punctures or injuries. Prohibit participants from carrying items like toys, glasses, cell phones or jewelry inside.
  • Group Dynamics: Limit the number of children inside the bounce house at a time to avoid overcrowding and collisions. The bounce house company will give you guidelines on the amount of bouncers and weight requirements. Encourage children to take turns and be mindful of others while bouncing.

  • Weather Awareness: Avoid using the bounce house in windy or stormy weather conditions. Deflate the bounce house if adverse weather is imminent.
  • Health Considerations: Individuals with pre-existing health conditions or injuries should avoid using the bounce house. Pregnant women, individuals with heart conditions, or those prone to motion sickness should refrain from bouncing.
  • Exit Procedures: Teach children the proper way to exit the bounce house, emphasizing the importance of waiting their turn. Create a designated entry and exit point to manage the flow of participants.
  • Regular Inspections: Make sure that you rent from a licensed Bounce House rental company.  They will conduct regular inspections of the bounce house for any signs of wear, tear, or damage. They will also repair any issues promptly and will not allow the bounce house to be used until it is in proper condition.

  • Inflation Monitoring:  Monitor the inflation levels throughout the event to ensure the bounce house remains properly inflated. Check for any loss of air pressure or unusual noises that may indicate a problem.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Have a first aid kit nearby and know the location of the nearest emergency services. Establish emergency procedures and communicate them to all adults present.
By following these safety tips, you can create a secure environment for bounce house fun, providing a memorable and enjoyable experience for all participants.
